A music manuscript folio with the notation for the songs "The Princess Royal--the New Way", "Britons! Strike Home"—as well as its lyrics—and "Deserter" on the front. "Deserter" is labelled as an "opera dance" from 1772-73; this song possibly comes the well-known French comic opera Le déserteur. The inner verso page has notation and lyrics for "How much Superior Beauty Awes", with an additional note reading "--Love in a Village" (1762)". This song comes from Act 3 of the opera Love in a Village, composed by Thomas Arne. The inner recto page has notation for two songs called "Linnet", "East India Nightingale", "Skylark", and "Rising of the Lark"—all of which come from John Walsh's 1717 collection of recorder tunes "The Bird Fancyer's Delight"— as well as "Haunted Tower", which is taken from the song "Finale: The banished ills of heretofore" from the 1789 opera "The Haunted Tower". The back page has notation for another version of "Linnet" as well as the song "The Duke of York's Favorite Troop". Sources are listed on the manuscript. A music manuscript folio with the notation for the songs "King George the Third's Minuet", "Orange Boven, or William, Prince of Orange and Nassau", and "A [Garat]" on the front. "Orange Boven" is a mispelling of "Oranje boven", the Dutch name for the song. The inner pages contain notation for "A Military Minuet", "A Bassoon Minuet", "Worcester Races", "The Irish Lottery"—which includes detailed dance instructions—"Tarantilla-the Wonder-working Tune", and "Tell Me Lovely Shepard Where", which comes from the secular cantata "Solomon" by William Boyce. "Tarantilla-the Wonder-working tune" is identified as coming from a letter from Stephan Storace, and was also used by Storace as the melody to his "Torre Annunziata: The Tarantula Tune". The inner recto page also as the Latin writing on "Le XI. Novembre--Saint Martin, évêque et confesseur"—St. Martin's Day, November 11th—as well as what appears to be the beginning of a plainchant melody. The back page has notation and lyrics for the songs "Lullaby--The Nightingale", "British Grenadiers" and "Plato's Advice". Sources are listed on the manuscript.
