Description

A music manuscript folio with the notation for the songs "Merry and Wise"—as well as its lyrics—"Lord Cathcart's Favorite", and "We With Fun the Stocking Throw" on the front. The inner pages contain the notation for the songs "Vous L'Ordonne[z]", "Miss Dawson's Whim", "La Belle Laitere", "Robin Hood", "La Don Juan", "And They're A Noddin', "A[oo]ns Darais" and "The Spanish Curtis". The back page has notation for the song "Birmingham Lasses". Sources are listed on the manuscript. Part of the collection of songs and dances from the 17th and 18th centuries gathered by Bessie Osgood; ^"Merry and Wise" is in G major and begins in 4/4 before changing meter to 12/8 time; "Lord Cathcart's Favorite" is in G major and 6/8 time; We With Fun the Stocking Throw" is in D major and 9/8 time; "Vous L'Ordonne[z] is in F major and 2/4 time; "Miss Dawson's Whim" is in G major and 6/8 time; "La Belle Laitere" is in G major and 6/8 time; "Robin Hood" is in G major and 2/4 time; "La Don Juan" is in D major and 6/8 time; "And They're a Noddin" is in G major and 2/4 time; "A[oo]ns Darais" is in G major and 2/4 time; "The Spanish Curtis" has an A section in G major and a B section in G minor and is in 2/4 time; "Birmingham Lasses" is in G major and 6/8 time.
