Abstract
Majorities of Mainers are worried about the cost of gasoline and believe gas prices will continue to rise. Nearly half have limited their travel because of the price increase, while more than a third have cut spending on non-essentials in their life. More than three-quarters believe oil companies and President Trump are very or somewhat responsible for the rise in the price of gasoline. Mainers are generally pessimistic about the economy; half expect bad economic times over the next year and nearly two-thirds believe the economy is getting worse. More than half of Mainers say their personal finances have declined over the past year and nearly half expect them to continue to worsen over the next year.
