Vance Dominates GOP Field in 2028 VT Primary Snapshot as Ocasio-Cortez, Newsom & Buttigieg Lead Among Dems 10/27/2025

Abstract

Looking far out ahead to the 2028 presidential primaries in Vermont, Vice President JD Vance is the early leader on the Republican side, while Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Gavin Newsom, and Pete Buttigieg head up the Democratic. Approval of President Trump's job performance is unchanged among Vermonters. A majority of Vermonters believe Trump deserves at least some credit for his role in the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas, however most state residents believe the ceasefire will not last. Most Vermonters blame Congressional Republicans and President Trump for the shutdown of the federal government, but a majority believe Congressional Democrats bear at least some responsibility as well.
