Abstract
Massachusetts residents are more optimistic about their personal finances in the wake of the 2024 election, driven by dramatic increases in optimism among Republicans and Independents. However, Bay Staters are more pessimistic in their outlook for the state and national economies. With winter approaching, nearly two-thirds of Massachusetts residents are concerned about the cost of heating, particularly those with lower incomes. Lower income state residents are also quite concerned about holiday shopping, as half feel they do not have enough money to cover the costs.
