Abstract
Few Vermonters feel better off financially than one year ago and four in ten state residents report having had at least some difficulty affording basic necessities. However, Vermont residents have a more mixed response about future economic conditions in the state and nation. Democrats are considerably more likely than Republicans to report doing better financially and to expect good times for the economy, while Republicans are much more likely to report hardship buying necessities and to anticipate a recession in the near future.
