Sanders Increases Lead Over Biden as Buttigieg Vaults into Top 3; Little Support for Potential Challengers to Trump 4/22/2019

Abstract

Bernie Sanders continues to lead the Democratic field in New Hampshire and a plurality of likely Democratic voters say he is the most progressive candidate and has the best chance to win the general election. Support for South Bend (IN) Mayor Pete Buttigieg has increased markedly since February and nearly equals support for Joe Biden. Half of likely Democratic voters express concern over how nominating a candidate over 70 will affect the general election; fewer are worried about nominating an openly gay or female candidate. Likely Republican primary voters express little support for potential challengers to Donald Trump.
