Abstract

Democrat Troy Jackson leads incumbent Republican Susan Collins in the Senate race in Maine. But despite leading in the horse race, most Maine voters think that Collins will win the election. Former Republican Governor Paul LePage has opened a small lead in Maine's Second Congressional District, while Democratic incumbent Chellie Pingree holds a comfortable lead in the First Congressional District. Democrat Hannah Pingree continues to lead Republican Bobby Charles in the race for governor. Democrats have effectively nationalized this election as a referendum on President Trump and Democratic voters are more interested and motivated than Republicans.
