Description

A music manuscript folio with the notation and lyrics for the songs "A New Song; On the Birthday of his Royal Highness the Prince of Wales " and "Sapphick Ode" on the front. The inner pages contain notation and lyrics for the songs "Prince Eugene's March", "Granoes March", "Wild [SBSS] Man", and "A New Song". The back page contains notation for the songs "Sukey Bids Me", "God Save the King", "Chiling O Guiry", and "The British Granadiers". Sources and some dancing figures are listed on the manuscript. Part of the collection of songs and dances from the 17th and 18th centuries gathered by Bessie Osgood; "A New Song" is in G major and 4/4 time; "Sapphick Ode" is in G major and 3/4 time; "Prince Eugene's March" is in D major and 4/4 time;"Granoes March" is in D major and 4/4 time;"Wild [SBSS] Man" is in D major and 6/8 time;"A New Song" is in C major and 6/4 time;"Sukey Bids Me" is in G major and 4/4 time; "God Save the King" is in C major and 4/4 time; "Chiling O Guiry" is in G major and 3/4 time; "The British Granadiers" is in D major and 4/4 time.
