Description

A music manuscript folio with the notation for the songs "The Lover's Complaint", "A Minuet", and "Bristol Fair" on the front. The inner pages contain notation and lyrics for the songs; "A Minuet; from Vienna", "Hie to Cambridge, in Passing Farewell", "The Sow in the Sack", "Captain [Unintelligible]'s Minuet", and "The Braes of Ballandine". The back page contains notation for the songs; "Minuet - by Simon Stubley", "Buningford Assembly", "Morton's Maggot", "Lockhing's Whim, or the Conjurer", and "Steg Knetter'd at the Sneck Band". Sources and some dancing figures are listed on the manuscript. Part of the collection of songs and dances from the 17th and 18th centuries gathered by Bessie Osgood; "The Lover's Complaint" is in G major and 3/4 time; "A Minuet" is in G major and 2/4 time; "Bristol Fair" is in G major and 6/8 time; "A Minuet; from Vienna" is in A major and 3/4 time; "Hie to Cambridge, in Passing Farewell" is in D major and 12/8 time; "The Sow in the Sack" is in A major and 4/4 time; "Captain [Unintelligible]'s Minuet" is in G minor and 2/4 time; "The Braes of Ballandine" is in G major and 3/4 time; "Minuet - by Simon Stubley" is in G major and 3/8 time; "Buningford Assembly" is in G major and 12/8 time; "Morton's Maggot" is in D major and 4/4 time; "Lockhing's Whim, or the Conjurer" is in A major and 2/4 time; "Steg Knetter'd at the Sneck Band" is in G major and 6/8 time.
