Abstract

The following thesis contains two parts. The first part is a collection of eight short stories, the first of which might possibly be described as something between a short story and a novella due to its length. The remaining seven stories are between two and fifteen pages. Most deal with themes of love, lineage, family, fitting in and standing out in the ever-changing landscape of adolescence and young adulthood. The second part of this thesis is the opening of a longform narrative which here takes the loose form of a novel. In its ideal form, this novel is of the illustrated graphic variety, comprised of chapters drawn by eight different artists to represent the eight main characters’ points of view. Here, the points of view are represented by the symbols which precede and close each section. Thank you for your time.
