Abstract
Three-quarters of Rhode Island residents rate their mental health as very good or good and a majority say their mental health has stayed about the same over the past 12 months. Nearly half of state residents report feeling bothered by feeling nervous, anxious, or on edge at least several days in the past two weeks and one in five have felt isolated from others at least several days in that time. Just over a quarter of Rhode Islanders report high levels of stress, with politics, work, international news, and physical health the most common contributors to daily stress. Rhode Island residents report most often dealing with stress by focusing on self-care, taking their mind off of the source of stress, and taking action to improve the situation. Democrats in Rhode Island, along with those aged 18 to 34, report lower mental health, greater feelings of anxiety, depression, and loneliness, and greater stress concerning politics.
