Abstract

Incumbent Democratic Senator Ed Markey holds only a small lead over Representative Seth Moulton in the race for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate in 2026. Potential candidates who have not officially announced their candidacy, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and Representative Ayanna Pressley, are very popular among likely primary voters. State residents are divided on a proposal to allow people to buy and consume marijuana in the same space if the vendor has a special license while they support a ban on tests for marijuana use as a condition for employment. Housing and the cost of living are cited most often as the most important problem facing the state.
