Abstract
Graham Platner leads Maine Governor Janet Mills in the race for the 2026 Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate, fueled by a wide lead among self-described socialists and progressives along with young people. On the Republican side, incumbent Senator Susan Collins holds a commanding lead over her challengers, who are unknown to most likely Republican primary voters. In Maine's 2nd Congressional District, former Governor Paul LePage holds a narrow lead over incumbent Democrat Jared Golden in the 2026 House of Representatives contest. Maine Auditor Matthew Dunlap, who is challenging Golden for the Democratic nomination, is more popular than Golden among likely voters in the 2nd District. In the upcoming Referendum Election, Mainers are deadlocked on the proposed Voter ID & Electoral Reform and Red Flag Law questions, the latter nearly one-third of Mainers say they do not understand well.
