Abstract
Confidence in the economy remains low in New Hampshire. Only one in ten, a record low, expect to be better off a year from now, and a majority expect the U.S. economy to enter a recession in the next twelve months. Nearly half of Granite Staters report struggling to afford basic necessities over the past year, including more than two-thirds of those with low to moderate incomes. Half of state residents report having postponed or opted not to make a major purchase because of cost in the past year.
