Abstract
Nine in ten describe New Hampshire as an excellent or good place to live overall and nearly all New Hampshire residents feel safe in their neighborhood. Most highly rate their local environment, recreational opportunities, and health care facilities. However, nearly half of Granite Staters and an even greater number of young people say there are few local affordable housing options and say the state is not affordable overall. A quarter of state residents say they are likely to leave New Hampshire in the next five years, including more than half under the age of thirty-five, with many citing a different climate and cheaper living as reasons for leaving.
