Abstract
Economic optimism in New Hampshire has dropped significantly following the election of Joe Biden. Optimism among Republicans has fallen precipitously while optimism among Democrats has increased only marginally. This has led to some measures of consumer confidence reaching or nearing all-time lows. However, many residents express ambivalence about the economy and foresee mixed or uncertain conditions in the future. Nearly half of state residents plan to spend a new stimulus check if they receive one while the other half plan to save the money.
