Abstract
"A Finer point: Zakiya Smith on needed reform to federal financial aid policy" is a brief podcast interview with Zakiya Smith, Strategy Director with the Lumina Foundation. Smith gives an overview of fifteen papers funded by Lumina covering three core themes regarding financial aid for higher education: state policy and it’s interaction with federal policy, income based loan repayment, and the issue of affordability. Smith discusses examples of each and how these themes might inform the framework of the reauthorization of the Higher Education Act.
