Abstract

"CAEL influences higher education reform for contemporary students" is a podcast interview featuring Pamela Tate, President and CEO for the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL). Tate discusses prior learning assessments (PLAs) and their role in accelerating adult learner degree completion rates. Tate also provides a comparison between PLA and competency- based learning, a similar growing trend in higher education. Tate goes on to discuss barriers within higher education such as transferability of credits and issues with Title IV regarding student financial aid. Lastly, Tate describes how CAEL is working to connect higher education with the business industry in helping business create environments that promote and encourage education.

Interview facilitation, commentary and discussion presented by Kathryn Dodge, Alison Griffin, and Elise Scanlon of Radio Higher Ed.
