Project Description
This is a video essay/case study describing the recent cancellation of popular YouTube creator Colleen Ballinger, who rose to fame in the early 2010s for her character Miranda Sings. Throughout, I define and apply various concepts from the digital communication field coined by media scholars Horton & Wohl, Meyrowitz, and Abidin. I describe the relationship of perceived interconnectedness that both brought Colleen Ballinger her fame, as well as cost her it.
