Description

A music manuscript folio with the notation for the songs "The Rival Mimics", "The Coquet", "The Highwayman", "The Dancing Apothecary", and "Parson Adams" on the front. The inner pages contain notation for the songs; "Pretty Sally", "Mathews Frighted at the Highwayman", "Shuter's Disappointment", "Duane Delight", "Smith's Whim", "The Taylor's Measure", "McNeil's Blunder", "The Drinking German" and "Bristol Wells". The back page contains notation for the songs "Downie's Humour" and "Mr. Tapner's Jig". Sources are listed on the manuscript. Part of the collection of songs and dances from the 17th and 18th centuries gathered by Bessie Osgood; "The Rival Mimics" is in C major and 9/8 time; "The Coquet" is in G minor and 6/8 time; "The Highwayman" is in D major and 3/8 time; "The Dancing Apothecary" is in B-flat major and 2/4 time; "Parson Adams" is in G major and 12/8 time; "Pretty Sally" is in A major and 4/4 time; "Mathews Frighted at the Highwayman" is in G major and 4/4 time; "Shuter's Disappointment" is in G major and 12/8 time; "Duane Delight" is in G major and 4/4 time; "Smith's Whim" is in G major and 6/8 time; "The Taylor's Measure" is in D major and 4/4 time; "McNeil's Blunder" is in G major and 12/8 time; "The Drinking German" is in A major and 4/4 time; "Bristol Wells" is in G major and 6/8 time; "Downie's Humour" is in D major and 2/4 time; "Mr. Tapner's Jig" is in D major and 6/8 time.
