Abstract

This thesis contains 41 poems separated into four parts, the intention being to detail a vague emotional journey straying between narrative, surrealism, and lyricism. The first section, “Twirling Inch-Long Spaghetti,” hopes to capture the speaker’s ennui in waiting for what is inevitably coming. The follow-up, “Unfamiliar Dog,” is intended to convey the emotional disaster of the foreseen unfolding. The penultimate section, “A New Sky,” aims to find a sense of resolution in the unresolved, doing so by being, or more often dancing, with the negativity. The final section, “Totality,” is a further exploration of the feelings that keep going in tandem with experience and consciousness, but hopefully tinged with more c’est la vie acceptance.
