Abstract

Between 2002 and 2022 the cost of insulin in the United States rose over 1000%. This price increase created a heavy financial burden for millions of American diabetics, leaving many unable to pay for the medication they need. Lifewater documents the stories of how people attempted to survive when the only drug that could keep them alive was priced beyond reach. The book also uses their experiences to examine the policies that created the crisis and potential solutions we can pursue to solve it.
