Abstract
I have long been fascinated with esotericism and classical views of psychology, not as a way to explain how the world works in a literal sense, more so as they function as a window into understanding how people want the world to work. While I acknowledge that Sigmund Freud and Karl Jung’s models of the mind and consciousness are outdated and do not adequately explain the inner workings of the human mind, I still believe these models have value as creative abstractions rooted in shared experiences. Furthermore, while I do not subscribe to Gnosticism as a personal creed, I find the Gnostic cosmogony to be extremely interesting in terms of how it can be understood in terms of fiction. Herenow, Thereafter, and All the Places in Between is a work that I believe is representative of my fascination with the mysteries and limitations of human understanding, and by depicting surreal and bizarre encounters, I intend to explore the intangible elements of social thought, obsession, esotericism, philosophy, and the psychological implications of the unknown, the unknowable, and the unconscious.
