Abstract

This thesis is a partial novel detailing the lives of individuals affected by the gulag system in Soviet Russia. It follows two men, a Soviet NKVD officer and a Polish prisoner, as their lives begin to intersect and connect. The work primarily focuses on male friendships, religion, family, and trauma.
