Abstract
Social media users in Connecticut report using social media platforms just over 24 hours per week, higher than residents of Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. More than half of social media users want to use it less, particularly those under 50, and a quarter feel addicted to social media. YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram are the most popular platforms among Connecticut residents, with YouTube used most frequently. Connecticut residents generally believe social media has a somewhat positive effect on creativity, but most feel it has a negative effect on productivity, mental health, and on society in general, and bipartisan majorities support banning children from using social media.
