Abstract

Vermont Congressman Peter Welch is the clear leader in the race for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by retiring Senator Patrick Leahy. State Senate President Pro Tempore Becca Balint, Lieutenant Governor Molly Gray, and State Senator Kesha Ram Hinsdale are closely matched in the Democratic primary for the U.S. House seat being vacated by Welch but all three hold clear advantages over prospective Republican opponent Marcia Horne. Republican Governor Phil Scott has not decided whether to run for re-election, but most Vermonters want him to do so and half think he deserves to be re-elected.
