Abstract

Democratic nominee for governor Amanda Janoo has increased her support significantly since winning the Democratic Primary last month and is now in a statistical tie with Republican incumbent Phil Scott. Scott's job approval rating has been declining in recent months. Democrat Molly Gray leads incumbent Republican John Rodgers in her bid to re-take her previous role as lieutenant governor of Vermont, while incumbent Democrat Becca Balint holds a comfortable lead in her bid for re-election to Congress. Vermonters support both ballot measures included on the November ballot and largely understand both measures. On state issues, a majority would support a "second home" tax in Vermont and a plurality support Governor Scott's plan to consolidate school districts and possibly close schools. Vermonters are divided on safe injection sites in the state like the proposed site in Burlington, with many believing they increase local crime and are ineffective at decreasing drug use.
