Abstract
"Martha Kanter: The Promise of the College Promise Campaign" is a podcast interview with Martha Kanter, former U.S. Under Secretary with oversight responsibility for all federal postsecondary statutory, regulatory and administrative policies and programs in the Obama Administration, who currently leads the College Promise Campaign’s national initiative to increase college access, affordability, quality and completion. There are currently over 200 College Promise Campaigns in 16 states. Martha describes how the national, non-profit, non-partisan campaign evolved and cites specific programs as well as creative public and private funding mechanisms. In addition to implications for workforce development, Martha discusses various views on the initiative, the value of community stakeholder engagement, and importance of support for students.
