Abstract
“Stan Jones: Complete College America's efforts to improve student progress” is a podcast interview with Stan Jones, founder of Complete College America (CCA). CCA works with states to leverage policies that ultimately increase college completion rates. Jones frames the work on college completion as the confluence of interest from the Obama Administration, Bill & Melinda Gates, Kresge and Lumina Foundations. Specifically, Jones discusses states that have adopted new strategies to help reframe remediation courses as co-requisites as opposed to prerequisites with significant success. Jones further addresses the importance of time, choice, and structure in order to boost completion rates with such initiatives as 15 to Finish and the use of meta-majors. Finally, Jones provides insight into the growing use of outcomes-driven data as performance-based funding increases in popularity across states.
The interview is facilitated by Kathryn Dodge, Alison Griffin, and Elise Scanlon of Radio Higher Ed. Commentary and discussion of the interview is presented by Dodge, Griffin, and Scanlon.
