This interview is with Thomas (Tom) Newkirk, Professor Emeritus of English in the College of Liberal Arts. Professor Newkirk taught and wrote about the study of composition for 38 years and founded the New Hampshire Literacy Institutes, the Learning Through Teaching Program, and the Writer’s Academy. In this interview, we discuss his life, his work, his teaching, and his experiences as a faculty member at UNH.
