Abstract

The Starbucks Barista Championship Contest is an annual affair within the corporation. It is intended, among other things, to share a moment to appreciate coffee, its craft, and the passion partners all share surrounding it. It was selected for its strength in supporting the Project Management curriculum provided at Granite State College, while also enriching team building and company knowledge beginning at store level. This project in particular has been enlightening in expanding the existing awareness of company procedures and standards. It has allowed the use of historical references, the ability to reach across many aspects of the corporate hierarchy, and to create open communication between stores throughout the district, which encompasses New Hampshire, Southern Maine, and parts of Northern Massachusetts. This event is one that has taken place for many years; having the opportunity to coordinate was rewarding for the experience, educationally and professionally, it was able to provide.
