Abstract
This proposal aims to discuss literature relevant to introductory findings on emotional intelligence (EI) to establish the foundation for the creation of an introductory workshop for leaders. While it may be common knowledge that leaders require certain attributes to effectively manage those they lead, research has found that an awareness of emotional intelligence as a skill is highly effective in developing leaders who not only inspire, but also encourage employee engagement and retention by route of fostering a positive work environment. As this project is not in the form of a formal research paper, the intent of this proposal is to share finding by way of a literature review that will serve as the core information presented to leaders in a workshop format to begin a series of workshops aimed at developing emotionally intelligent leaders in any industry.
