Aims & Scope

Music & Musical Performance publishes peer-reviewed scholarship on music across historical periods, repertories, and traditions. It welcomes research from the full range of music-scholarly disciplines, including historical musicology, music theory, ethnomusicology, and related fields. The journal also encourages work that explores the experience of music, including listening, creation, and performance practice; such essays may employ methods that extend beyond conventional scholarly approaches.

MMP publishes research articles, essays on pedagogy and technique, reflections by performers and composers, and reviews of books, recordings, and other scholarly resources. Contributions may address any repertory and employ historical, analytical, theoretical, ethnographic, or interdisciplinary approaches.
