Abstract
The article explores the possibility that the economics of many information age markets may foster self-organizing monopolies, in contrast to most industrial age markets in which monopolies are rare and are usually obtained or maintained through anti-competitive acts, or are the result of government action (as is the case for utilities or patent based businesses).
