Local Foods Sustain Your Community
Abstract
Creating a community supported agriculture (CSA) or farm share pickup at your library is a great way to support the local foods movement, reduce the distance food travels from farm to table, help your community eat healthy, and get to know your patrons. Further benefits include donating a substantial amount of fresh produce to a local food pantry. When someone joins a CSA, they are entering a relationship with a farmer where they provide either labor or monetary support in exchange for a share of the food the farm produces.
