The Effect of Ionization on Magic Numbers of Rare-Gas Clusters
Abstract
It is shown by molecular dynamics simulation that the formation of a molecular dimer ion within an ionized rare-gas cluster will produce several evaporations, thus destroying any magic numbers of the neutral clusters. In this case, the observed magic numbers will appear after ionization and reflect the stability of positively changed clusters.
