Size Distributions of Negatively and Positively Charged Clusters: CO2 and N2O
Abstract
Mass spectra of positively and negatively charged CO2 and N2O clusters are compared. The ions are produced by electron impact or by electron attachment to neutral clusters. Although the same ensembles of neutral clusters are used, the mass spectra are completely different. Local intensity anomalies in the spectra of negative cluster ions, which are absent in the positive ion spectra, do not depend on the energy of the electron beam.
