Abstract

A system for building georeferenced maps of ice along a ship's path is being developed using ship mounted digital cameras. The integration with the ship's motion sensors along with careful consideration of the camera's geometric parameters are key components in producing high quality maps which maximise coverage. This presentation will cover some of the concepts behind the geoCamera as well as highlighting some results from deployments in both Antarctica and the Arctic.
