Abstract

Hydrographers and geophysicists are overwhelmed with data, especially on offshore operations where multiple crewed or uncrewed vessels are simultaneously acquiring acoustic sensor data. Offshore renewable energy, oil/gas and military surveys have stringent reporting criteria with respect to seafloor target detection and identification. MIND’s SpectralAi software is a cutting-edge software suite for user visual immersion, data management, annotation, mapping and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) automatic target recognition (ATR) for side scan sonar data.

Presenter Bio

Pete Ramsay has a PhD in Marine Geophysics and is a Certified Level 1 hydrographer under the Australasian Hydrographic Surveyors Certification Panel. He has 36 years of offshore industry experience and is currently the Director Strategic Hydrographic Systems for Klein Marine Systems. Klein is one of the oldest sonar companies in the world and focuses on the development of advanced side scan sonar systems for commercial and military applications.

Maurice “Moe” Doucet has a B.S. in Computer Science and is the VP of Software Development at MIND Technology, Inc. He is responsible for the development of a new generalized architecture for building marine software applications as well as the lead developer for the SpectralAi Software Suite. In the last 20 years of his career in the hydrographic industry, he has been responsible for numerous applications addressing all modalities of marine sonars. These applications include QPS Qimera, FM Midwater, FM Geocoder Toolbox, FM GIS, as well as Triton Imaging, Inc. Perspective, SB-Logger, and SB-Interpreter.
