Determination of Both Range and Angle Binning Methods With Different Binning Sizes With Regard to Their Capabilities for Object Detections

The main objective and purpose of this project is to test various strategies for processing oceanographic data and determine the best combination among different binning methods with different values, specifically with regard to their capabilities of object detection. In order to achieve this goal, we primarily focused on two of the widely used binning methods in processing oceanographic data: Range Binning and Angle Binning. Both of the binning methods have certain advantages and disadvantages. We also used some data processing software like Edge Tech Discover, Caris, Global Mapper, Fledermaus, Matlab and so on. Those are all effectively useful software when it comes to oceanographic analysis.
Approaches to Crowd Sourced Data

As crowd sourcing becomes a popular data collection technique, the interest in crowd sourced bathymetry has increased. Many hope crowd sourcing will allow for efficient and accurate updates to incomplete or outdated bathymetric data. This summer, I explored the feasibility of crowd sourced bathymetry using Argus collected data in the Baltimore Harbor.
