Presenter Bio
Meme has been working with the NOAA Office of Ocean Exploration and Research for four years, specifically as a Mapping Team Lead for the Okeanos Explorer program. She typically sails on the Okeanos 2-4 times per year, spending the remainder of her time in the IOCM planning or wrapping up cruises, and supporting the objectives of the Office of Exploration. Prior to working with NOAA, Meme spent three years in private consulting, sailing on research and commercial cruises around the world including to Papua New Guinea, the North Sea, and the Mediterranean. Meme earned her master's degree in Marine Affairs from the University of Rhode Island, and her bachelors degree in Environmental Studies from the George Washington University.
Adam Skarke is a Physical Scientist with the NOAA Office of Ocean Exploration and Research. He is responsible for coordinating expeditions and conducting seafloor mapping in support of the ocean exploration mission of the NOAA ship Okeanos Explorer. Adam holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in geology from the University of Delaware as well as a B.A. in geology from Colgate University. His graduate research was focused on acoustic seafloor sediment characterization, parameterization of bedform morphology from sonar imagery, and sediment transport processes at the estuary-shelf interface.
