Abstract
This Special Issue of Geomatics brings together nine studies, each tackling unique challenges facing ocean mapping. The articles highlight a wide-ranging spectrum of innovations, from automated data processing and high-resolution mapping systems to ecosystem-based planning and machine learning applications for habitat classification. Together, they showcase how diverse, interdisciplinary approaches are essential to advancing oceanography and marine spatial planning, facilitating sustainable development, and contributing to safer and more informed approaches to ocean use.
