Nomenclatorial notes, new synonyms, and new species of new world notoxinae (Coleoptera : Anthicidae)
Abstract
New names are proposed for two junior homonyms: Notoxus pecatus Chandler and Nardi, for Notoxus orientalis Chandler; Notoxus tlaxcalensis Chandler and Nardi for Notovits pygidialis Chandler. Two new synonymies are recognized: Notoxus dugesi Pic, 1901 (=Notoxits stephani Chandler, 1978) Notoxus frafernus Champion 1890 (=Notoxus talpa var. subnotatus Pic, 1913). Notoxus argentinus Pic is redescribed, and may be an introduced Palearctic species. Three new species are described: N. carrorum Chandler, Rocky Mountains of North America: N. beameri Chandler, New Mexico N. lipovskyi Chandler, western Mexico.
