Abstract

This blog post focuses on the popular YouTuber Emma Chamberlain and examines how she has found success in the traditional media landscape. Unlike other YouTubers, Emma has gone from vlogging in her car to walking red carpets with some of Hollywood’s biggest stars. How has she been able to do what so many YouTubers fail to do? This paper attempts to answer this question through looking at para-social relationships and the appeal of authenticity.
