Abstract
Nearly two-thirds of Vermont residents approve of Governor Phil Scott's performance, including majorities of both Republicans and Democrats. However, Vermonters are equally divided on whether they want Scott to seek a sixth term in 2026, though less than one-third believe Scott does not deserve to be re-elected if does choose to run. On issues recently discussed by the State Legislature, a plurality of Vermonters support introducing ranked-choice voting for presidential primaries, while a majority support ending the state's use of for-profit prisons. Nearly half of Vermonters say that housing, taxes, or the cost of living is the most important problem facing the state.
