Photograph of women weaving silk in a factory in Khodjent (Khujand), taken by Lotte Jacobi in Tajikistan, Central Asia, in the November of 1932. Several women are standing by silk reeling machines. Lengths of silk are wound in neat bundles along the center of the machines. Two women are standing in the right of the photograph removing a hank of silk from a frame and hanging it on a peg. One woman is in a long coat and headscarf, the other is in a skirt, sweater, and embroidered hat. A banner is hung at the back of the high-ceilinged factory room.
