Photograph of women working in a silk factory in Khodjent (Khujand), taken by Lotte Jacobi in Tajikistan, Central Asia, in the November of 1932. Several women are standing by silk reeling machines. Lengths of silk are wound in neat bundles along the center of the machines. Two women are standing in the foreground winding a hank of silk, one woman in a long coat and headscarf, the other in a skirt, sweater, and embroidered hat. A banner is hung at the back of the high-ceilinged factory room.
