c. 1900-1915. Hat made of a synthetic fiber over buckram and wire, with purple ostrich feather plumes.
The brim is oval, widest at the sides and with a wired edge. The crown is wide and gently domed, and has a wire at the seam with the brim and at the seam where the top of the crown joins the sides.
Several purple ostrich feathers are sewn to the hat around the base of the crown, completely encircling it.
The brim is lined with a vibrant paisley printed silk in pinks, purples, and yellows. The crown is lined with a cream silk gathered at the top the crown on a cotton tie. Professionally made. Hand-sewn.
